Disk Archive, a.k.a. DAR, is an older command-line tool for backup. DAR is a shell command that backs up directory trees and files. It works under Linux, *BSD, Solaris, MacOS X and MS-Windows. DAR can make selective and differential backups, slices (to split an heavy archive over several media like CD/DVD or Zip floppies), strong or lazy encryption, compression and, obviously, archive testing. For those who prefer a GUI, one is available through DarGUI. DAR supports Windows, Linux, and OS X operating system.
